To Ayi's next loving family, Whilst writing this letter of recommendation, it brings me back to the time we first met our Ayi (王军肖Ms Wang). She arrived at our apartment in Shanghai early at 9am and my daughter immediately warmed up to her, like a family friend. From there on, I instantly felt a sense of security and assurance that my daughter and newborn son would be loved by her. And 2 years on, she has done so and more. As you observe her work ethic, you'd find that Ayi very detailed in terms of infant care as she could tell when my son was feeling under the weather from his mood, and when my daughter was 'heaty' (as the Chinese would say). Given that Ayi is very attentive to her own health, she constantly reads up on articles regarding children's health and effective remedies, one of which I learnt from her was probiotics. And since I'm originally from the tropical Southeast Asian weather, I was not entirely aware of the various diseases that result from the four seasons - this is where Ayi helped with the children and was very diligent in keeping them in tip-top shape. Despite being Ayi's first international family (British and Malaysian), she's been very adaptable to our lifestyle and ways when it comes to bringing up our kids, or enabling my husband and I to work and spend quality time as a couple. Ayi is also an easy person to communicate with, and she comes from a place of love. We're thankful for her as we went through the infamous lockdown in Shanghai, and I don't think we would have survived those months locked in our tiny apartment with two kids (under two) without her! She's also taken care of me whilst I was unwell and I could not be more grateful for her motherly care.
